The Active 10 Plus is a complete GPS bundle and gives you all the tools you need to get out and explore the great outdoors. Designed with the user in mind it is a rugged GPS with a large colour screen that shows your exact position on a real map, in any weather, day or night. The Active 10 Plus comes pre-loaded with the following mapping: UK OS MiniScale 1:1 million; 1:250k (raster) UK road mapping and a World Map 1:5 million. Additional maps at different resolutions can be purchased seperately. The maps are available on map cards that simply plug straight into the Active 10. No other computer or equipment is needed: this is a stand alone system that will work straight out of the box.The additional available maps include national parks, national trails and also regions and counties.
The Satmap Active 10 comes in a box that contains two cabinets, one in which the Satmap Active 10 itself is placed and the other in which a lid is positioned which contains the other items including the quick start guide and other leaflets.The large colour screen on the rugged unit displays topographical maps, showing your current location, where you?ve been and which route you?re following. Even more interesting is the ability of the device to handle media files such as photos, movies and audio recordings, which can be used to label points of interest on a route.
The great thing is that there is no need to have a detailed plan when you get out and about, You can change your route plan if you want and go a differant way. Its robust, your kids can carry it, and if it gets knocked on rocks or gets dropped etc then you can just change the screen to one without the scratches and the Satmap is new again.
Users often find that the battery life from the rechargeable pack is excellent, even when spending a day in the mountains it has been reported that there is only a slight drop in the power indicator. The satellite fix is quick and is maintained during that day in the mountains. The display is clear with good back light, and the tracking is positive to the OS paths.
